The Power of Mentorship in Achieving your Goals

I just spent the day in Wyncote, PA with this beautiful soul that I’m proud to call my friend, mentor, and former college professor… Mary Anne Van Arsdale. She saw potential in me as a college student that I never saw, and I’m forever grateful for her confidence in me. She hired me to work for her on two separate occasions during my career, once at the Harrisburg SBDC and then again for HACC’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies.

I have not seen her in at least 20 years, but we did stay in touch occasionally over those years. Today, I had the chance to tell her what an impact she had on my life, and how grateful I am to reconnect. With her help and guidance, I think I might be able to finally take my children’s book to completion. At least that is the hope.

Do you have someone in your life that made an impact on your professional career? Then find them and tell them, before it’s too late. Mentorship is so important. Mary Anne has taught me over the years to accept mentorship as well as pay it forward by mentoring others. What a life she has led and continues to lead! I hope to follow in her footsteps.
